COVID 19 Information

Safety in the Edgewood College Residence Halls is of vital importance to our community. A holistic approach is imperative for a successful residential experience this year. Mitigation efforts in the residence halls at Edgewood College fall in to the four CDC recommended areas: maintaining healthy operations, maintaining healthy environments, promoting behaviors that reduce spread and responding when someone gets sick. All members of our community will need to remain aware of how their own decisions and actions affect the greater good.

Healthy Operations
This year, we are operating all of the residence halls with students living in singles and doubles in each hall. We do not have triple occupancy spaces and may move students to singles upon request and as space is available.

For Fall 2021, we plan to offer a phased move in, with most freshman moving in on Sunday, August 15 with fall athletes moving in the week prior. Undergraduate classes will begin on August 18.

Dining Services will continue their multi-pronged approach to serve students including:  eliminating self-serve stations, increasing carryout options and posting signage in dining spaces to allow for proper social distancing.

Healthy Environment
Maintaining a healthy environment is key and includes additional cleaning of community spaces (bathrooms and lounges) and high touch surfaces as well as increased availability of hand sanitizer at all residence hall entrances. We also provide residents with instructions on proper cleaning of personal spaces. Extra cleaning supplies for common areas will also be available.

Promoting Behaviors that Reduce Spread
An important piece to protecting our residence halls lies with the residents themselves. Education in multiple formats will be provided and policies for personal wellness checks, wearing of masks outside of personal spaces, social distancing, and reduced capacities and visitation are in place.

Responding when Someone gets Sick
While we do all we can to prevent illness in the halls, we have developed protocols and have reserved vacant spaces with private bathrooms to utilize in the event that a resident develops symptoms or tests positive for COVID-19. Before moving in, all residents identify a safety plan for potential illness and we will ensure protocol is in place for isolation and contact notification.
